Turkish military operations against PKK terror group continue in southeast Turkey’s Mardin, Hakkari, Diyarbakir and Sirnak provinces
ANKARA – Eighteen terrorists have been killed and a terrorist captured during ongoing operations in Turkey’s southeast since Monday, according to Turkish military and provincial governor offices.
Turkish General Staff said in a statement Tuesday that seven terrorists were “neutralized” in Mardin province’s Nusaybin district Monday, bringing the total number of terrorists killed to 170 since operations began.
In Sirnak province, six terrorists were killed Monday, bringing the total number of terrorists killed in the province to 47 since operations began.
Sirnak Governor’s Office said in another statement that two terrorists were “neutralized” and a terrorist was also captured by security forces Tuesday during anti-terror operations in Silopi district of Sirnak provinces.
Turkish military also said two terrorists were killed in Hakkari province’s Yuksekova district Monday, making it 132 terrorists killed in the district since operations began.
Also, a terrorist, who was identified as producer of bombs for PKK was “neutralized” Tuesday in Diyarbakir province’s Kulp district.
More than 350 members of the security forces have been martyred since the PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU, resumed its 30-year armed campaign last July.
Thousands of PKK terrorists have also been killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
