ANKARA – French top football division Ligue 1’s reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain signed Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria on Thursday.
According to the Parisian club’s official Twitter account, Argentine star Di Maria signed the deal that keeps him at the Parc des Princes until 2019.
“I want to be successful in every competition that we will play in France and Europe. I want to win UEFA Champions League trophy again, which is the dream of all footballers. We will do anything to bring the greatest European cup to Paris Saint-Germain and France”, 27-year-old Argentine international was quoted as saying on the PSG website.
PSG chair Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: “We are very proud that Angel Di Maria chose Paris Saint-Germain. He is a talented player with a wonderful capacity to dribble past his opponents and excellent pace.”
“Paris Saint-Germain proves its great ambitions and desire for reaching high levels again by signing Angel Di Maria,” he added.
During his career Angel Di Maria played for Argentina’s Rosario, Portuguese club Benfica, Spanish giants Real Madrid and English Premier League side Manchester United.
He won one Spanish La Liga title, two Copa del Rey (Spanish King’s Cup) trophies, one Spanish Super Cup and one UEFA Champions League title while playing for Real Madrid.
Di Maria scored four goals and produced 12 assists in 32 appearances for Manchester United last season.
The French club is yet to reveal Di Maria’s transfer fee. However, German football database website “Transfermarkt” says that Paris Saint-Germain completed his move for €63 million ($68.7 million).
