Police raid numerous addresses across 39 districts of Turkey’s largest city
ISTANBUL – A major Turkish police operation in Istanbul has seen the arrest of at least 256 people suspected of a range crimes.
Istanbul police, backed by helicopters, also performed identity checks on 34,500 people across numerous locations in 39 districts of the city.
According to the police, 3,682 cars and 317 workplaces have been inspected. Police fined 365 drivers and 28 business owners for various infractions.
Security forces also seized 16 unlicensed guns, ammunition and different type of illegal drugs.
Over 15,000 police officers, including special units have joined the all-day operation.
