Injured Puppy Abandoned At Las Vegas Airport With Heartbreaking Letter

The puppy was left in one of the airport’s bathroom by the owner, who claimed in a letter she had “no other option”

A McCarran International Airport employee discovered the terrified Chihuahua-mix puppy left in one of the airport’s bathrooms with a heart-wrenching letter beside him.

“My owner was in an abusive relationship and couldn’t afford to get me on the flight,” the letter from the anonymous woman read. “My boyfriend kicked my dog when we were fighting and he has a big knot on his head.”

“He probably needs a vet. I love Chewy sooo much please love and take care of him,” the note ends.

The airport employee who discovered Chewy brought him to Conor and Millie’s Dog Rescue in Las Vegas, along with his letter.

Linda Gilliam, president of the dog rescue, shared Chewy’s story on Facebook. Chewy was treated for his injuries at a local veterinarian.

Chewy’s story immediately went viral, and the rescue received near to 1,000 requests to adopt Chewy from across the United States. The shelter stopped receiving applications.

Shelter offered to reunite Chewy with his owner

Gilliam declined to identity Chewy’s current foster family. The identity of the family who adopts Chewy will also not be revealed for safety reasons, as the little dog has thousands of admirers across the country hoping to adopt him.

Gilliam stated she will give Chewy’s original owner four weeks to come forward and take Chewy, otherwise another family within Nevada will adopt him.

“A lot of people want to reunite the dog with his owner, but she has not come forward and I don’t really expect her ever to be in a position to come forward. She did a very brave thing and hopefully she’ll see that he’s OK. He’ll have a great life.” Gilliam said.

Gilliam reminds the hundreds who attempted to adopt Chew that there are “thousands of Chewys out there, ready for a home.” Her own shelter has more than 200 dogs.
