Pepe has penned a heartfelt farewell letter to the fans of Real Madrid after revealing that he would be leaving the club after spending 10 years at Santiago Bernabeu.
The combative and controversial defender made it known on Monday that he won’t be renewing his contract with the club after this season as he was only offered a year extension rather than the two years he was hoping to get.
Pepe who was born in Brazil but plays for Portugal is rumoured to be on the radar of Paris Saint-German and other top English Premier League clubs and in his letter which was posted on his Instagram page. He made it known that it was an emotional time for him.
The Heartfelt Note From Pepe
The defender wrote on his Instagram page:
I arrived at this great club on the 12th of July, 2007 and it was an amazing moment for me because I had finally arrived at a club that I had always loved”.
But the time has come to move on because 10 years after I will have to stop representing this badge. Every time I put on this shirt, it brought out a fulfilment in me.”
“I can thank you all enough for all the support you have given me over the years and for sharing my beautiful journey. I thank everyone of you who has come along with me on this journey and the memory will share will stay with me forever.”
“It’s time for me to bid farewell to this city that has called home over the years, where I witnessed the birth and growth of my daughters. I am happy for all that I have achieved here and it will stay with me till the very end”.
Pepe rounded up his Real Madrid career on a high note as he played a part as the team became the first side to win the Champions League title back to back.
