Prince Harry Declares No One Wants To Be King Or Queen

According to an interview with a US magazine, Prince Harry said that no on in the British Royal Family wants to be King or Queen.

“We are not doing this for ourselves but the greater good of the people… Is there any one of the royal family who wants to be king or queen?” expressed 32-year-old Prince Harry, fifth to the British throne. “I don’t think so, but we carry out our duties at the right time.”

Royalty is a necessity

On the throne since 1952, Queen Elizabeth II (91) is the world’s oldest and longest reigning monarch. Harry explained that they had no intention to “fill her boots”, but they plan on carrying on her work.

Harry goes on to add “The monarchy is a force of good… We don’t want to dilute the magic… The British public and the whole world need institutions like it.”

Alongside his brother William and sister-in-law Kate, Harry is an advocate for mental health awareness. He freely shares his own struggles following the death of his mother 20 years ago. He expresses in campaigns how much counselling helped him cope.

The loss of a parent

Having to walk behind his mother’s coffin when he was 12 years old took a toll on him and left a lasting impact.

“My mother had just died, and I had to walk a long way behind her coffin, surrounded by thousands of people watching me while millions more did on television,” he continues, “I don’t think any child should be asked to do that, under any circumstances. I don’t think it would happen today.”

Living in a bowl

Currently dating US actress Meghan Markle, the prince criticized the press for invading their private life. He explained that he tries to live an “ordinary life” even though he is constantly under the spotlight. He said that even if he were king, he’d prefer to do his own shopping.

“I sometimes still feel like I am living in goldfish bowl, but I now manage it better.”

He goes on to say “People would be amazed by the ordinary life William and I live. I do my own shopping. Sometimes when I come away from the meat counter in my local supermarket, I worry someone will snap me with their phone.”

Harry adds, “I am determined to have a relatively normal life, and if I am lucky enough to have children, they can have one too.”
