We Were Inferior Against Madrid – Pique

Barcelona and Spain defender Gerard Pique believes Barcelona were “inferior” to Real Madrid after they were defeated in the two leg of their Spanish Super Cup clash.

Real Madrid won the second leg 2 – 0 to round up a 5-1 aggregate score.

Pique who has been with Barcelona for close to a decade stated after the game that they were not in their best shape as a club or a team.

“We have a long way to go but we know we have to improve because we need to keep improving to catch up with our rivals.”
The victory was even harder to take given the fact that Real Madrid played without Ronaldo who is currently serving a 5 game suspension and also left Isco and Gareth Bale on the sideline.

Barcelona has been struggling in attack since the departure of Neymar and only scored one goal in the return leg fixture through a penalty.

New Signings Coming

Pep Segura, the General manager of Barcelona, revealed after the game that the club was closed to signing Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho.

Although Coutinho has handed in a transfer request, Liverpool has stated that he is not for sale. But according to Segura, they are currently discussing how the deal will be resolved before the close of the transfer window.

Borussia Dortmund has also suspended Dembele following his refusal to show up for training so as to force a move to Barcelona.

It is believed that a more improved bid will be submitted for both players.
