The Blue Editions Watch Line Showcases the Noble Beauty of Bucherer’s Official Color
With the long-anticipated launch of its “Blue Editions” watch collection, Bucherer has once again redefined to the world the timeless symbolism behind the color blue, the company’s signature shade. As the principal color featured on the city of Lucerne, Switzerland’s coat of arms, where Bucherer first opened its doors well over 100 years ago, blue’s expansive, cooling quality is reflected in the sky, the ocean, and of course the sparkling waters of Lake Lucerne, so it’s easy to see why it’s had such a strong influence on the company’s watch designs.

A Pioneering Watch and Jewelry Retailer
Established in 1888 by Swiss entrepreneur Carl-Friedrich Bucherer and his loving wife Luise, Bucherer has been providing buyers with a unique assortment of exceptionally crafted watches for many years. Even in the midst of the trials of the Great Depression and World War II, the company stood tall thanks to the quality of its timepieces and expanded into other cities throughout Central Europe.
Today, Bucherer is one of the largest European luxury watch and jewelry retailers, boasting what is likely the widest assortment of Rolex wristwatches in the world and enjoying long-established professional relationships with a variety of other distinguished watch labels.
Chopard is just one of these exclusive brands. Along with ten other high-profile watch labels, the luxury jewelry retailer has collaborated with Bucherer on one of the 17 breathtaking watch models in its Blue Editions collection.
Getting to Know Chopard
There are numerous similarities between Bucherer and Chopard’s stories. Much like Bucherer itself, Chopard’s timepieces represent the dynamic merge between luxury watches and fine jewelry. Launched near the snowy hills of Switzerland in 1860, it has a long history of satisfying the changing needs of the luxury market.
In addition to the intricate beauty of its creations, Chopard is well known for the ethical and sustainable ways it sources its gold and diamonds. In 2014, having already released its eco-friendly Green Carpet Collection the previous year, the company introduced its very first watch created with “Fairmined” gold, which is sourced only from ethically operated South American mines.
In 2016, the company’s “Happy Diamonds”, which are prominently displayed in its latest contribution to Bucherer’s Blue Editions line, reached their milestone 40th anniversary. Reliably sourced from ICG and certified by the RJC (Responsible Jewellery Council) as being of premium quality, these diamonds lend incredible sophistication to Chopard’s newest Bucherer Blue Editions watch – the Happy Sport.
The Two Faces of the Happy Sport
In February of 2018, Bucherer officially placed the two-toned Happy Sport watch on the market. This release is actually Bucherer and Chopard’s second collaboration on the Blue Editions Happy Sport watch, the first being a single-tone steel version released several months earlier. Developed exclusively for women, this exclusive timepiece – like all other Blue Editions watches – can only be purchased at a Bucherer boutique or through the company’s online shopping portal, and its production is limited.

Bucherer Blue Editions are highly prized among serious watch collectors, and the Happy Sport is no exception. Its release commemorates 20 years of Bucherer and Chopard’s successful business relations, and the two companies couldn’t be more pleased with its phenomenal success as a luxury watch for discriminating tastes. And now that its second version has been made available, both retailers’ dedication to the continual refinement of their products shines through more than ever.

Like its single-tone predecessor, the new Happy Sport watch alternates three elegant Happy Diamonds with two deep-blue sapphire stones along the bottom of its dial, all of which move and beautifully complement the piece’s blue hour markers and authentic blue alligator skin strap. In total, the 30 mm self-winding masterwork contains an impressive .09 diamond carats and .15 sapphire carats.

In contrast to the original Happy Sport, this version is a two-tone variant that is of special appeal to the ladies. The watch’s cool steel outer case and lug are the perfect foil for its warm 18-carat pink gold crown, inner case, bezel and lug screws.
Though the likelihood of flaws existing in this ingeniously crafted watch is minimal, Bucherer automatically offers a full two-year warranty against manufacturer defects, and this period can be extended to three years with Chopard’s optional extended warranty.
